Bye-Laws
- Name of The Club:
The club shall be known as The Centurion Lacrosse Club (The Club).
1.1 The Club colours shall be navy blue and gold.
- Aims and Principles:
The Club is designed to accommodate all those associated with the sport of lacrosse in the UK and provide social activities for its’ members and to support the development of youth participation in lacrosse.
- To further the game of lacrosse, in particular, by encouraging the game amongst young players, coaches and officials.
- To provide a club for members to meet socially.
- To provide a link for members to the contemporary game.
- To provide occasional games for members.
- Membership:
- The Club is open to receive application for membership from all associated with the sport, predominantly within the UK.This shall include players, officials, coaches, supporters or followers of the sport of lacrosse.
- Membership applications are considered by the Officers of the Club (President, Secretary & Treasurer) for approval.
- Members are expected to pay the annual membership fee, as detailed in 4.6.2 below or to have paid a life membership fee as detailed in 4.6.3 below, with the exception of Honorary Members as detailed in 3.4 below.
- Honorary Members of the Club may be elected at the discretion of the Committee.
- Structure and Management
- The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Club shall elect General Members of the Committee and Officers of the Club, who shall hold office until the conclusion of the next AGM.
- The management and control of the Club shall be vested in the committee, which shall be formed of Past Presidents, Officers and General Members, and elected at the AGM.The Committee shall also have the power to co-opt members should they require to do so.
- A quorum for the Committee shall be five.

The Officers are elected annually at the AGM. The President may be elected for a period of two consecutive years.
Any vacancies occurring during the course of the year shall be filled by the Committee.
- Regional or Sub Committees
These may be formed where appropriate and report to the Committee.
- Finances and Financial Year
- The financial year of the Club shall run from 1st April of each year.
- The subscription shall be decided annually by the Committee.Payment may be made by a lump sum or annual/monthly standing order. Non- payment of the annual membership fee may mean the person ceases to be a member of the Club.
- Life Members are accepted by the Committee for payment of a donation, deemed suitable by the Committee.
- The Treasurer shall be responsible for keeping the accounts, banking with a suitable financial organisation, receiving and making payments on behalf of the Club, producing accounts and records to assist at meetings.
- The annual accounts shall be audited by a person appointed at the AGM, if the post becomes vacant in the year the Committee shall have the power to appoint another auditor.
- Annual General Meetings
- Finances and Financial Year
The Annual General Meeting shall be held following the end of the financial year on a date and location decided by the Committee, at a period no longer than 14 months following the proceeding AGM. All members are eligible to attend the AGM.
Business of the AGM should include
- Apologies for Absence
- Officers Reports
- Presentation of Annual Accounts
- Auditors Reports
- Election of Officers and General Committee Members
- Appointment of Auditor
- Any further Business.
- Special General Meeting (SGM)
A Special General Meeting may be called by the Committee or by a notice supported by at least five members. The object of the meeting should be stated. A minimum of 10 days’ notice must be given of the AGM and any SGM.
- Affiliations
The club should be affiliated to relevant National and Regional bodies.
- Alteration, Amendment and Addition to the Constitution and Bye Laws.
These can be made at an AGM or SGM, when a resolution is passed by two thirds of the members present. Written notification of any proposed changes shall be included in notice of the meeting.
Foot Note: Where possible the change of officeholders should take place on different years to assist with the continuity of the club.
